Upon
admission, all cadets are considered recruits.
Introductory training includes learning the
systems and lifestyles of the Academy.
Promotion to cadet status follows successful
completion of specific performance objectives.
The rank system encourages the development of
positive leadership skills, and the
opportunity to earn more privileges through
personal achievement.
Becoming a Public Safety Academy
cadet catalyzes a young persons's
emotional growth so as to stimulate a
heightened sense of responsibility and to
appreciate more fully the value of family and
home life.
The Honor Concept, as practiced at the Public Safety Academy, describes a relationship that prevails among individuals who, in their dealing with each other and the world at large, believe and practice complete and total honesty and integrity.
Honor, as a concept, embodies a way of life, an approach in dealing with ourselves and others. People who revere and practice the concept of honor do not lie to themselves or others; do not cheat themselves or others; do not deceive themselves or others; and do not steal.
The personal and working relationship between cadet and cadet, between cadet and officer, and between officer and officer, must be founded upon mutual and complete trust and integrity. In closely knit societies, such as the Corps of Cadets , the relationships established are lifelong.
In order to establish the proper relationship among cadets, trust and integrity are absolute essentials; it is for this reason that the Corps of Cadets are stewards of their Honor Concept. The following is emblazoned in the hallways:
"They who attend this academy reveres honor, honors duty"
The existence of the Honor Concept as a fundamental basis for cadet relationships carries with it the implication that any person whose conduct demeans or offends this concept has offended the entire Corps of Cadets. Who attends school within the walls of the Public Safety Acadmy reveres honor; honor is our duty!

Our Directions
Cadet Pledge
"As a Cadet of the Public Safety Academy and potential future public safety officer, I pledge to prepare myself to serve my community, protect lives and property, and respect the rights of all people. During my high school career, I will work to develop myself intellectually, ethically, and physically to achieve this goal".
CADET CREED
I am a Public Safety Academy cadet. I strive to achieve academic excellence. I exemplify high moral character. I work diligently to prepare for the future. I know my success in school and life is dependent on my own effort.
CODE OF ETHICS
- I will, as cadet, regard myself as a member of an important and honorable school.
- I will conduct both my personal and academic life so as to inspire the confidence of the public.
- I will regard my fellow cadets with the same standards as a hold for myself.
- I will regard it my duty to avail myself of every educational opportunity
- I will avoid alliances with those whose goals are inconsistent with an honest and unbiased behavior.
- I will make no claim to professional qualifications, which I do not possess.
- I will be loyal to my superiors, to my subordinates, and to the school I represent.
CADET OATH
"As a cadet of the Public Safety Academy, I understand and will uphold the Cadet Code of Honor. I will not lie, cheat or steal or tolerate those who do. As a cadet, I am duty bound to uphold the laws of society, to respect those entrusted over me, to uphold the traditions of the Corps and to carry out my responsibilities as a citizen of the United States of America."
Our Corps of Cadet’s Code of Honor includes:
- A cadet will not lie, cheat or steal, nor will he/she mislead or deceive anyone as to known facts. A cadet will be truthful, trustworthy, honest and forthright at all times.
- Every cadet is presumed to be honorable at all times and to possess moral integrity in the fullest sense and will be treated accordingly, unless a cadet proves otherwise by his/her words or actions.
- A cadet should neither permit nor accept anything which is not just, right or true. He/she must do the right thing because it is right, not because of fear or punishment or peer pressure.
CADET CODE OF HONOR Honor is a quality which renders a person unable to say anything less than the absolute truth in any situation, regardless of the outcome. It leaves him/her incapable of any action which would bring reproach upon his/her integrity. It is an individual’s personal honor that is the foundation for the honor concept in the Public Safety Academy.
