School Hours Policy
The regular school day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m. Students should not arrive at PSA before 7:00 a.m. Students should be picked up by 3:00 p.m.
Additionally, students should not be in the PSA buildings after school, on the weekends, or holidays, unless there is PSA staff to supervise them.
Following these guidelines will enable PSA students to enjoy the PSA campus in as safe an environment as possible.
Tardiness
- Tardiness is defined as any student arriving at class after the designated start of class.
- Any student who is tardy more than 30 minutes will be regarded as absent for the period and must present a re-admit from the Main Office.
Corrective Action for Unexcused Tardies
- For the first three tardies, the teacher warns the student of the consequences for arriving late to class.
- For the fourth tardy, the teacher will call the parent/guardian to discuss the problem of tardiness.
- If tardiness continues, the teacher will send the student to the counselor, which will result in a formal entry into the student’s discipline file and a parent conference.
- Continued disregard for the tardiness policy will result in further disciplinary action, including possible suspension from school and a possible return to the student’s home school.
Use Of The Public Safety Academy Gymnasium
- A PSA teacher needs to be in the gym when PSA students are in the gym.
- Students should not be in the gym or in the lobby after school without adult supervision. The adult must be physically in the lobby or gymn with the students.
- Groups/project time and special schedule time should not be spent in the gym.

Attendance Procedures
Students must report to the Main Office for a re-admit slip before being accepted into class for absences of one or more periods. Re-admit slips will be issued to students beginning at 7:45 a.m. Parent verification of reason for the absence will be required in all cases before an excused re-admit slip will be issued. The parent verification will consist of one of the following:
1. A parent/guardian call to the attendance office the morning of the first absence and each subsequent day of absence, unless the number of days is specified on the first call, to report the absence and reason.
2. A parent/guardian signed note brought by the student to the Main Office upon student’s return indicating the reason for the absence.
NOTE: NO STUDENT IS TO BE ADMITTED TO CLASS AFTER AN ABSENCE OF ONE OR MORE PERIODS WITHOUT THE OFFICIAL RE-ADMIT SLIP.
